Dave McMurdo (trombonist, composer, arranger, conductor, educator) was born March 4, 1944 in Isleworth, England, and passed away on June 13, 2011. He spent his early life in vancouver, British Columbia, Canada where he studied music at the University of British Columbia. It was there that he began composing music and playing in s variety of bands including the famed Bob Hales Big Band. Marty Morell (drummer, percussionist, vibraphonist, producer) was born in1944. He played with the Bill Evans Trio for seven years – longer than any other drummer. Morell attended the Manhattan School of Music and studied mallets with Morris Goldberg, and tympani with Saul Goodman at the Juilliard School of Music.
